Welcome to
Madison County
Escape with me to a life style that preserves the old
and enjoys all that is good in our modern world. Just an
hour's drive from the state capital, ten minutes from
I-10 ,and 30 minutes from I-75, Madison is a melting pot
of all your dreams in one
Friendly, charming and filled with panoramic views, it
is like tonic to a tired soul. Come to Madison and
rediscover all that you are. Madison County has it all!
Something for everyone.
Do
you need to escape to the tranquility of the early
morning hours when fishing is its best? Or do you need
to feel the excitement of the wind blowing through your
hair as you glide across beautiful CHERRY LAKE on skis?
If
you're into diving, try out the cold, clear water at
Blue Springs Park which has one of the three largest
underwater cave networks in the world. The National
Association of Cave Divers (NACD) holds meets here. Over
35,000 feet have been explored, yet still its arteries
flow on with much left to explore. Blue Springs' water
flows into the Withlacoochee River which meets up with
the famous SUWANNEE RIVER.
The SUWANNEE River State Park, which borders Madison
County, offers camping facilities surrounded by huge,
moss-laden live oak trees.
Madison County offers some of the finest hunting to be
found and has an array of hunting clubs.
Enjoy
the great outdoors at Yogi Bear's Jellystone
Park/Campground. Over 100 campsites located under some
of Florida's great majestic oak trees. Open all year
round. Available for meetings, trade shows or other
gatherings. Madison County is rich in historical
landmarks.
The Wardlaw-Smith-Goza Conference Center built in 1860
is listed in the Historic American Building Survey and
the National Register of Historic Places. Its design is
a fine example of Greek Revival Architecture.
Madison County, Full of history and proud of it!
Our county is the site of many
Historical Markers. See the
historic Four Freedoms Monument, proudly standing in
downtown Madison.
